Emmett's early debut...
On Monday, September 20th I went for a routine 37 week check up. I expected to be in and out in 30 mins. Tom was working so Trey had to come with me that day. Everything seemed to be going well until the Dr measured my growth and stated I was measuring 35 weeks. After an ultrasound it was determined my amniotic fluid was very low and could be dangerous for the baby. Luckily, I was 37.6 weeks along which is considered "full term" and safe to deliver the baby. Unfortunately, this would mean a repeat c-section! I had my hopes for a VBAC this entire pregnancy.
I was instructed to go home, pack a bag, and drive directly to the hospital.
Ok- here's the stats...
Emmett Charles Herrick
2:57 pm
6 lbs 5 ozs
19 inches
So everybody has asked me about the name. I am not a twilight fan nor do I like Emmett Smith!! Tom and I came across it in a baby name book and both loved it. The name just seemed to fit our little man. Since Trey-AKA Thomas Alan Herrick,III, represented the Herrick side I wanted Charles as his middle name which is my Dads name.
He looked so small! But he came out crying and alert with an APGAR score of 9. The Doctor said he was very healthy and actually was very big and strong for 3 weeks early! Emmett has very long fingers and feet so I think he will be big like his brother Trey.
Tom didnt make many birth photos but he was the only photographer and I was not in any mind frame to take pics. I plan on taking some family photos next week while he is off work so stay tuned...
